Prepare a QR destination before you print
Once a QR code is printed on a sign or card, changing the print is inconvenient. Choose a destination you control and can maintain before committing the design to paper.
Choose a stable public page address
Use the published page address, such as alinkin.bio/yourbusiness, rather than an editor, private preview or temporary campaign URL. Make sure the page is published before printing. A QR code cannot fix a destination that visitors are not allowed to access.
Decide who will maintain the page and what it should show after a promotion ends. If the print is intended for everyday customer use, a general business page is often more durable than a page devoted to a short-lived offer. Keep the destination understandable to someone who has never seen your social account.
Provide an ordinary route beside the code
Print a short readable web address and a description of what the code opens. A customer who cannot scan it can still type the address or understand the intended destination. Labels such as View our menu or Book an appointment are more useful than Scan me with no explanation.
If you display a QR image on a web page, add a normal clickable link as well. Someone already looking at the page on their phone should not need a second device to follow the destination. Images can support a route; they should not be its only usable form.
Test the actual print, not just the design file
Make a sample at the intended size and scan it from more than one phone in the conditions where customers will see it. Check distance, lighting, glare and whether surrounding graphics interfere. A code that scans on a bright monitor may behave differently on a small card or reflective sign.
Complete the journey after scanning. Verify that the browser opens the right published page, that links are readable, and that the booking, menu or contact destination works while signed out. If a device warns about the address or the page does not load, resolve that before distributing the material.
Maintain the page behind the print
Keep a copy of the printed design and record the page address it uses. Update the page when services, menus or contact routes change, while retaining the shared page URL where possible. Check old printed material during periodic reviews rather than assuming it still leads to the right information.
If you must retire the destination, provide a clear replacement route instead of quietly deleting it while printed codes remain in use. For image uploads on alinkin.bio, QR-sized inputs retain their pixels; nevertheless, test the rendered image and the real print rather than relying on file appearance alone.
Before you share
- The QR code targets a published page you can maintain.
- A readable URL and clear purpose appear beside the code.
- A real print sample has been scanned on different phones.
- The full destination journey works while signed out.
- Someone is responsible for maintaining the linked page.
